[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Chang-won] The main movement paths of Jeju’s 42nd confirmed COVID-19 case, who tested positive after visiting Sanbangsan Carbonated Hot Springs, have been disclosed.
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced the epidemiological investigation results of the 42nd confirmed case in the province, Mr. A, who tested positive for COVID-19 around 11:10 p.m. on the 29th, on the 31st.
Mr. A visited the hot springs around 4 p.m. on the 23rd, the same day that the 29th and 33rd confirmed cases in Jeju, a pastor couple, visited Sanbangsan Carbonated Hot Springs. According to the epidemiological investigation, Mr. A visited eight locations from the 21st until the confirmation date on the 29th, and as of 3 p.m. on the 31st, he was identified to have had contact with six people.

Mr. A had contact with a total of six people, including one family member, three employees at Park Gisa Car Center, and two acquaintances who accompanied him during the visit to Sanbangsan Uipum. All six tested negative. Jeju’s quarantine authorities have completed disinfection of seven visited locations, excluding the outdoor Sanbangsan Uipum.
During the epidemiological investigation, Mr. A stated, "I visited Sanbangsan Carbonated Hot Springs on the 23rd, 26th, and 28th, and had symptoms such as cough, sputum, and muscle pain starting from the evening of the 23rd," adding, "I mostly stayed at home."
Following the Central Disease Control Headquarters’ guidelines for disclosing confirmed patients’ movement paths, Jeju’s quarantine authorities conducted an epidemiological investigation of movements from two days before symptom onset, the 21st, to the confirmation date, the 28th. To minimize privacy invasion and damage caused by disclosure, Jeju does not reveal contacts or locations without transmission risk related to Mr. A.
Mr. A is currently receiving isolated treatment in a negative pressure ward at Jeju National University Hospital. Jeju authorities are investigating whether there are additional contacts by analyzing on-site epidemiological data, CCTV footage, and credit card usage records.
