How to Revitalize the Commercial Area Around Sadang Station to Isu Station in Dongjak-gu?
Research Service to be Promoted Until November... Establishment of a Mid- to Long-Term Roadmap for Commercial Area Revitalization... ▲Basic Survey of Commercial Areas around Sadang Station and Isu Station ▲Development of Representative Concepts and Specialized Programs ▲Discovery of Environmental Improvement Projects, etc.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is conducting a research project to revitalize the commercial areas around Sadang Station and Isu Station until November.
The district signed a contract with the research agency on the 20th and has officially started the research project to establish a systematic comprehensive plan for local commercial area revitalization.
The detailed tasks include ▲basic survey and feasibility study of the commercial areas around Sadang Station and Isu Station ▲designation of the commercial revitalization zone boundaries ▲deriving revitalization plans through opinion gathering on the selected commercial revitalization zones ▲discovering environmental improvement projects reflecting the characteristics of shopping districts and zones ▲developing representative concepts for revitalization zones and specialized programs for each zone, thereby establishing a distinctive and sustainable mid- to long-term roadmap for commercial area revitalization.
Based on the results of this research project, the district plans to participate in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' 10 billion KRW-scale Commercial Renaissance contest to promote projects for happy changes for merchants and residents, such as themed streets, cultural space creation, and development of representative commercial brands.
Additionally, the district has held business briefings and meetings for merchant associations and local residents, reflecting the opinions of each stakeholder and implementing various projects to revitalize the commercial areas.
Last year, the district invested 213 million KRW to install ▲3 kiosks ▲17 gobos lights ▲5 trick art sites around Sadang Station, and produced a storytelling-style promotional video. To attract passengers from metropolitan and city buses, the stops of four metropolitan bus routes from the Gyeonggi area (Suwon, Hwaseong) were changed to the city bus stop in front of Exit 9 of Sadang Station. Pedestrian environment improvements and design road paving works were also carried out in the area.
Furthermore, until December, a signboard improvement project will be promoted to enhance urban aesthetics and revitalize the local commercial areas.
Old and uncoordinated signboards in the Sadang-dong area (Dongjak-daero 7-gil, 600m) will be replaced, and unique digital outdoor advertisements will be produced and installed to create a landmark street that residents want to visit.
