US Casinos and Coca-Cola Join the Wave of Large-Scale Layoffs

According to The Wall Street Journal, MGM Resorts International, famous for its casinos, announced on the 28th (local time) that it will temporarily lay off 18,000 employees in the United States alone. Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts, sent a letter to the employees subject to temporary layoffs on the same day to notify them of this fact.
As a result of this measure, more than 25% of MGM Resorts' 68,000 employees in the United States as of the beginning of the year will lose their jobs.
In addition to MGM Resorts, layoffs are continuing among large companies in the travel, aviation, and leisure industries. American Airlines recently announced that it will temporarily lay off 19,000 employees, and Delta Air Lines will temporarily lay off 1,941 pilots.

Coca-Cola also announced on the same day that it will encourage voluntary retirement for 4,000 employees in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, and then proceed with involuntary workforce reductions worldwide. The total number of Coca-Cola employees worldwide reaches 86,200.
