Changwon City Warns of 100,000 KRW Fine and Claims for Compensation if Masks Are Not Worn
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] As of the 28th, with 3 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Changwon-si, Gyeongnam Province, the city urged citizens to comply with the 'Mandatory Mask-Wearing Administrative Order.'
This administrative order, effective from 0:00 on the 28th, is recommended for implementation by Gyeongnam Province, mandating mask-wearing not only indoors but also outdoors where large gatherings such as assemblies and performances occur.
The city warned that violations will be subject to a guidance period until October 12 under the 'Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act,' after which a fine of up to 100,000 KRW will be imposed starting from the 13th. Additionally, if infection spreads due to not wearing masks, costs related to quarantine measures may be claimed.
So far, the city has repeatedly encouraged voluntary reporting and testing for attendees of the August 15 Gwanghwamun rally.

Changwon-si stated, "We urge those who are concerned about overlapping movement paths with new confirmed cases to get tested immediately, and there are still people who have not been tested," adding, "We request prompt participation in testing."
