Arrest Warrant Issued for Man in His 50s Who Assaulted Passenger Over "Why Aren't You Wearing a Mask?" Remark
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 28th that they have applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges of assault for attacking passengers who requested him to wear a mask on the subway.
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of assaulting two passengers who asked him to wear a mask on a train passing near Dangsan Station on Seoul Subway Line 2 at around 7:25 a.m. the previous day.
Mr. A reportedly strangled the neck of one victim, struck the face with the slipper he was wearing, and even assaulted another passenger who tried to intervene.
While causing a disturbance by throwing an umbrella and running around inside the train, Mr. A was arrested on the spot by the police who arrived at the scene.
