Government Abruptly Reverses Plan to Prosecute Residents... "Listening to Senior Experts' Opinions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] The government has decided to put on hold its plan to file complaints against residents who have launched an indefinite collective strike in protest of the expansion of medical school quotas.
On the afternoon of the 27th, the Ministry of Health and Welfare sent a text message to the press corps stating that it planned to submit a complaint to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency around 4:50 p.m. against residents who violated the order to resume work.
However, about an hour later, at 5:18 p.m., the ministry announced the cancellation of the schedule again.
The ministry briefly explained the reason for the cancellation, saying that during a meeting between the Minister of Health and Welfare and hospital directors, they heard opinions from senior medical professionals.
They added that the schedule for submitting the complaint would be announced later, without providing specific details on whether the plan to file the complaint had been withdrawn.
