Naver and Nate Temporarily Suspend Comments on Sports News
Portal Daum Temporarily Suspended on the 7th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Naver and Nate will temporarily suspend their sports news comment services starting from the 27th.
Naver plans to end the comment service on sports news from that day, and on sports videos from September 10.
Naver explained, "We wanted to preserve the value of communication through comments and the joy of cheering, but we judged that the level of malicious comments recently and the pain suffered by the athletes hurt by them have exceeded a tolerable level." They added, "During the suspension of comments, we will enhance technical solutions, and if their effectiveness is guaranteed, we will resume discussions on lifting the comment suspension."
Nate will also temporarily suspend the sports news comment service on the same day. Instead, they introduced user reaction buttons such as 'Best', 'Heartwarming', 'Ridiculous', 'Upsetting', and 'Angry'.
