Establishment of Real-Time Remote Learning Platforms and e-Studio for All High Schools in Gangdong-gu
Establishment of e-Studio in All Local High Schools and Launch of Remote Learning Platforms by School... Support for Real-Time Interactive Online Classes... Creation of Smart Education Platform 'Gangdong e-Cloud' Connecting Schools and Local Communities
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is supporting the establishment of e-studios in all high schools?the first among local governments nationwide?in response to the full transition to remote classes in metropolitan area schools, enabling each school to open and operate real-time remote class platforms.
On the 26th, as metropolitan area schools switched entirely to remote classes, concerns in the education field deepened. Schools, accustomed to face-to-face classes with students attending in person, are not equipped with environments suitable for the suddenly initiated remote classes starting this year.
Accordingly, Gangdong-gu is minimizing the anxiety of schools and students caused by remote classes by establishing e-studios in all high schools within the district and supporting the opening and operation of real-time remote class platforms for each school to ensure stable learning in any environment.
Unlike one-way classes that only broadcast online content, the platform enables various functions such as real-time class broadcasting and recording, subtitles, material transmission, chat, and mute processing, allowing interactive classes that communicate with students in real time.
Using the platform for each school, students can participate in classes on time without interruptions or waiting, and the risk of personal information leakage is also reduced.
Additionally, the district is creating the future-oriented smart education platform “Gangdong e-Cloud,” where educational entities such as schools, universities, and learning institutions in the region gather to share and utilize diverse learning content.
The plan is to build digital governance connecting schools with each other and with the local community by linking the self-directed learning support center e-studio, which opened in April, with the newly established school-specific e-studios.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “I believe students, parents, and teachers are greatly bewildered by the sudden full transition to remote classes. I hope the newly established e-studios and school-specific real-time remote class platforms will help minimize inconveniences at schools and learning gaps among students.”
He also stated, “We will continue to expand digital education infrastructure such as Gangdong e-Cloud so that students can enjoy diverse learning content anytime and anywhere.”
Meanwhile, the district will hold the opening ceremony of “Gangdong e-Cloud” at 10:30 a.m. on the 31st. Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon will participate via video conference from the Gangdong e-studio at the self-directed learning support center, and each high school principal will join from the e-studio established at their respective schools.
After the opening ceremony, a real-time interactive major explanation session using the remote class platform will be held with first-year students of Baejae High School.
