[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has prepared a supplementary budget proposal for the second half of 2020 totaling 56 billion KRW to stabilize residents' lives and revitalize the local economy, and submitted it to the Jungnang-gu Council on the 21st.
This supplementary budget, increased by approximately 5.7% compared to the previously allocated budget, focuses on projects to revitalize the local economy weakened by COVID-19, improve housing and street environments, and support low-income vulnerable groups.
In particular, due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, additional budgets were allocated for strengthening quarantine activities and operating screening clinics, including the operation budget for the Care SOS Center to provide emergency care services.
First, the budget includes 4.3 billion KRW for health and welfare sectors such as emergency support and housing benefits (1.1 billion KRW) for residents facing livelihood difficulties, and improvement of childcare teachers' treatment (600 million KRW); 14.2 billion KRW for urban safety and environmental improvement sectors such as construction of small-scale public parking lots (900 million KRW), road maintenance (1 billion KRW), and underground utility projects (2.2 billion KRW); and 900 million KRW for the local economy sector including the Hope Job Project (400 million KRW) and additional issuance of Jungnang Love Gift Certificates (200 million KRW).
Additionally, 1 billion KRW was allocated for education, culture, and sports sectors such as establishing the Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center and renovating public sports facilities, and 9.1 billion KRW for general administration sectors including improvements to district and community office buildings, covering areas that residents can directly feel in their daily lives.
Furthermore, the district reduced 9.2 billion KRW through active expenditure restructuring by cutting budgets for projects canceled or difficult to proceed due to COVID-19, and allocated this amount as a reserve fund to prepare for unexpected disasters.
