Gokseong-gun Implements Proactive Administration for Flood-Affected Residents
Special Disaster Area Water and Sewage Fee Reduction
Joint Repair Support for Flood-Damaged Agricultural Machinery
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] With Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do designated as a special disaster area due to flood damage, the county is actively working to stabilize the lives of affected residents.
First, the county will reduce water and sewage charges.
This reduction will apply to the charges billed in September, and the amount reduced corresponds to the excess usage over the average monthly consumption of the three months prior to the disaster. This means that the water and sewage charges for flood-affected households, which used more than usual for cleaning and restoring flooded facilities, will be fully waived.
Flood-affected water supply customers can apply for the reduction by submitting an application form and a damage confirmation certificate (issued by the eup/myeon office) to the eup/myeon office or the Water and Sewage Business Office by the 14th of next month.
Gokseong-gun plans to promote detailed information about the water and sewage charge reduction through its website, village broadcasts, and village chief meetings.
A county official said, “We hope that the reduction in water and sewage charges will be of some help to the residents in the flood-affected areas.”
Additionally, the county began repairing 236 agricultural machines damaged by flooding in 17 villages across 6 eup/myeon. Starting from the 25th, for two days, 30 agricultural machine instructors and repair experts from 10 organizations gathered at the Gokseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center parking lot to carry out repairs.
Initially, the plan was to repair the flood-damaged agricultural machines by visiting each village.
However, due to the spread of COVID-19, the damaged machines were collected at each village and transported by vehicles to the Agricultural Technology Center parking lot to minimize contact with residents during the repair process.
The repair support involved the Rural Development Administration, the Provincial Agricultural Technology Institute, agricultural machine instructors from nearby city and county agricultural technology centers, and agricultural machine-related companies, all voluntarily participating, demonstrating a strong sense of solidarity.
Large agricultural machines were guided to be serviced at specialized dealerships, and in this joint repair support, small agricultural machines such as tillers, cultivators, sprayers, and mowers were repaired by dividing tasks by item, enabling the completion of repairs on the received damaged machines within the planned period.
