Recruitment of Participants for Yangcheon-gu Resident Technology School
Selected for Seoul City Public Project, Secured 110 Million Won Budget; From September, Operating Two Resident Technology Schools in 'Food Care Life Management Service' and 'Energy Efficiency Home Repair' Fields
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will operate two resident technical schools in the fields of ‘Care Food Life Management’ and ‘Energy Efficiency Home Repair’ starting this September, aiming to create jobs through professional workforce training and foster local management companies.
In July, the district applied for and was selected for the Seoul Resident Technical School project, securing a city budget of 110 million KRW. To carry out the project, an agreement contract will be signed with the Yangcheon Economic and Social Cooperative in August, and recruitment of trainees will begin in September to proceed with the project.
First, the Food Care Life Management course will provide basic education such as safe food and dietary habits, along with practical cooking sessions introducing delicious and healthy menus for children and cancer patient meals necessary for recovery. Care Food Life Management prioritizes the selection of women with career interruptions and vulnerable groups, with plans to nurture care food product-based care business companies through them.
Second, the Energy Efficiency Home Repair course will offer education on basic knowledge such as urban regeneration, home repair trends, remodeling processes, and energy-efficient home repair. Priority will be given to participants of the previously conducted beginner home repair course to enhance the effectiveness of the education.
Residents wishing to apply can register online via the district’s website and the Yangcheon-gu Social Economy Integrated Support Center website. Each course will recruit 20 people, and the education period will run from September to November, held every Tuesday and Thursday.
Previously, Yangcheon-gu conducted a beginner course on energy-efficient home repair starting in June. The 20 trainees participated in basic education on climate change and energy, energy-efficient housing cases, tool usage, and hands-on training such as replacing LED lights and silicone, insulation, and mold removal.
An official from the Job and Economy Division said, “Although classes were held wearing masks due to COVID-19, the enthusiasm of the participants was high,” adding, “The practical-oriented and beneficial classes resulted in very high satisfaction among trainees.”
Yangcheon-gu Mayor Kim Soo-young stated, “We expect new jobs to be created by training personnel through professional courses at the resident technical school,” and added, “We will establish a foundation for local management companies in care business by providing safe care food services, and expand business in the housing management sector closely related to residents’ lives to lay the groundwork for urban regeneration project local management companies.”
