View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission announced on the 25th that it held a situation inspection meeting chaired by Chairman Eom Jaesik to check the preparedness of nuclear facilities against the approaching Typhoon No. 8 'Bavi'.
Facilities such as nuclear power plants and low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste disposal sites will be thoroughly managed to prevent damage from the typhoon.
The meeting was conducted via video conference from the NSCC Disaster Prevention Situation Room with four regional offices including Gori, Wolseong, Hanbit, Hanul, and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
Chairman Eom received inspection reports on nuclear power plants and low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste disposal facilities in preparation for Typhoon No. 8 Bavi and reviewed the readiness measures.

Chairman Eom stated, "Since the typhoon is expected to pass west of the Korean Peninsula, safety inspections at the Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant site must be conducted more thoroughly," and added, "Other nuclear power plants should maintain an emergency duty system until weather warnings are lifted and promptly report any unusual occurrences."
