Chungnam, Mandatory 'Beekeeping Registration'...Fines for Non-Registration
[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] All beekeeping farms in the Chungnam region will be required to apply for beekeeping business registration.
Chungnam Province announced on the 25th that, with the enforcement of the "Beekeeping Industry Promotion Act" starting from the 28th of this month, beekeeping farms in the province must complete their registration application by November 30th with the competent city or county office where their main business site is located.
The application process involves submitting to the city or county livestock department documents including a panoramic photo of the apiary, a blueprint or photo of the beekeeping facilities, and proof of ownership or usage rights of the apiary land.
The registration target includes beekeeping farms that raise 10 or more native honeybee colonies, 30 or more Western honeybee colonies, or a mixed total of 30 or more colonies of both species. Failure to register and distributing or selling honey or other beekeeping products may result in a fine of up to 300,000 KRW.
Separately, each beekeeping farm must have facilities that prevent the inflow of external contaminants during honey harvesting, storage, and processing, and must be equipped with disinfection facilities, equipment, and disinfectants for pest and disease control.
