Star Chef's Cuisine, Enjoyed at Home via Delivery
Ddingdong 'Chef's Delivery Week' Begins, 8 Restaurants in Gangnam and Seocho Participate
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The delivery application (app) 'Ddingdong' delivers Michelin star chefs' restaurant dishes to homes. Honeybiz, the operator of Ddingdong (CEO Yoon Moon-jin), announced on the 25th that it will start the 'Chef's Delivery Week,' a two-week event until the 8th of next month, where customers in the Gangnam and Seocho areas can enjoy menus from Michelin star chefs' restaurants via delivery.
This event was planned by the gourmet magazine 'Bar & Dining,' with Ddingdong handling order mediation and delivery. It reflects the trend of refraining from dining out due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), despite wanting to celebrate special occasions.
'Chef's Delivery Week' allows customers to safely and conveniently enjoy star chefs' dishes at their desired locations. The participating restaurants include Chef Lee Jun's 'Dowroom,' Chef Kim Eun-hee's 'The Green Table,' Chef Jung Ho-seok's 'Cinedchef Apgujeong,' Chef Kim Bong-soo's 'Doma,' Chef Hwang Yong-taek's 'Gangjeongi Neomchineun Jip,' Chef Jang Jung-soo's 'Jungsikdang,' Chef Kang Min-gu's 'Mingles,' and Chef Lim Ki-hak's 'L’Espoir du Hibou,' totaling eight locations.

When ordering the dishes for delivery, a video of about five minutes is provided, showing the cooking process, detailed menu, and chef introduction. Customers can enjoy the meal at home while listening to the star chef's explanation. Song Hyo-chan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Honeybiz, said, "Ddingdong started as a service connecting famous restaurants and eateries that do not offer delivery. We have established a system that delivers famous chefs' dishes quickly while maintaining quality as much as possible." He added, "We plan to increase the number of high-end restaurant partners through this opportunity."
