Yeosu City Temporarily Closes Romantic Pocha... Appears to Address Citizens' Concerns
Special Measures to Prevent COVID-19 Infection Following Consecutive Confirmed Cases in Nearby Areas
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 24th that it has decided to temporarily close the Yeosu Night Sea Romantic Pocha to block the rapidly spreading COVID-19 community infections nationwide.
According to the city, although there have been no recent confirmed COVID-19 cases in Yeosu, the city decided to temporarily close the Yeosu Night Sea Romantic Pocha due to the accelerating nationwide spread and the consecutive confirmed cases in nearby Suncheon and Gwangyang.
The temporary closure period is 14 days, from August 24 to September 6.
Operating since 2016, the Yeosu Night Sea Romantic Pocha has been one of the most popular local food tourist attractions among visitors to Yeosu, loved by many tourists.
The city has been operating it while strengthening its own disaster prevention activities, guidance, and inspections to prevent COVID-19, but with the rapid increase in confirmed cases, it took proactive measures to dispel citizens' concerns about infection and fundamentally block transmission routes.
A city official said, “We will closely monitor the trend of COVID-19 occurrences and the stepwise social distancing situation in Jeollanam-do and flexibly consider extending the temporary closure.”
