Jang Cheonggang and Ju Gwangju Chinese Consul General Visit Jeonnam Governor Kim Youngrok
Both Sides Pledge Continued Cooperation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Newly appointed Consul General Jang Cheonggang of the Chinese Consulate General in Gwangju paid a courtesy visit to Jeonnam Province.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 24th, Consul General Jang Cheonggang, who assumed office as the 5th Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Gwangju in July, visited Governor Kim Young-rok of Jeonnam Province for a greeting on this day.
Consul General Jang underwent a COVID-19 self-quarantine period and visited central government agencies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea last week, and started official schedules within his jurisdiction from this week.
Consul General Jang is known to have a high understanding of Korea, having worked at the Chinese Embassy in Korea and the Chinese Consulate General in Busan.
During this visit, Governor Kim and Consul General Jang agreed to further develop cooperation between the two institutions in a future-oriented direction based on the mutual trust they have built so far.
Governor Kim said, “Based on the friendship confirmed through mutual support of quarantine supplies between Jeollanam-do and Chinese local governments during COVID-19, it is expected that Korea-China relations will be further revitalized after COVID-19,” and added, “We expect Consul General Jang to play a significant role in Korea-China local government exchanges.”
Consul General Jang responded, “I will serve as an important bridge in Korea-China cooperative projects such as the online high-level talks between Jeonnam and Jiangxi Province and the 22nd online Korea-China Forum.”

Meanwhile, the Chinese Consulate General in Gwangju has strengthened the spirit of exchange by proving that “a friend in need is a true friend,” by donating quarantine supplies during the worsening COVID-19 situation and sending letters of consolation for flood damage on behalf of Jeonnam Province.
