Bodyfriend, Joint Research Paper on 'AI Anemia Diagnosis' Published in Medical Journal
AI-based Big Data Analysis of Electrocardiograms for Anemia Diagnosis
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Bodyfriend announced on the 24th that it has succeeded in diagnosing anemia through artificial intelligence (AI) analysis using electrocardiogram big data in a joint study with Mediplex Sejong Hospital and Medical AI.
The paper detailing this research was published as a cover story in the medical journal The Lancet Digital Health.
Bodyfriend explained, “Through this AI research with Sejong Hospital, we analyzed over 70,000 electrocardiogram data sets along with age, gender, and other data, revealing that anemia can be diagnosed and its levels identified with a high degree of accuracy.”
Furthermore, they interpreted, “It is possible to diagnose anemia and detect changes in hemoglobin levels using data alone without the blood collection process. This opens the door to diagnosing and treating various diseases beyond heart conditions detectable by electrocardiograms through non-face-to-face data analysis.”

Bodyfriend added, “We are working on developing massage chairs equipped with biosensors as medical devices. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as demand for non-face-to-face medical services increases, healthcare devices like massage chairs could accelerate the era of remote telemedicine.”
