'31-Year Veteran Actor' Kwon Hae-hyo, Why Was He 1 Hour Late for the 'Fukuoka' Interview?
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Veteran actor Kwon Hae-hyo, with 31 years of experience, caused a stir by arriving an entire hour late for an interview about the film Fukuoka (directed by Jang Ryul). The PR agency Phil & Plan explained that the delay was due to a mistake in the schedule communication process.
On the 21st, Kwon Hae-hyo held an interview ahead of the release of Fukuoka at the Sweet Lounge of Lotte Cinema Konkuk University in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
That day, Kwon was scheduled to attend two rounds of interviews at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. However, for some reason, he did not appear on site at the expected time. He arrived at 10:50 a.m., and the interview originally planned for 10 a.m. only began at 11 a.m.
During this process, Phil & Plan, responsible for promoting Fukuoka, did not provide any explanation to the press. The PR agency’s mistakes did not end there. For the next interview slot at 12 p.m., they unilaterally informed reporters via text message at 11:02 a.m. that the interview was postponed to 1 p.m., which drew criticism.
Phil & Plan stated, "Due to a delay during the process, we expect about a one-hour postponement from the originally scheduled time," and "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to the schedule."
The PR agency sent this notification only 58 minutes before the interview, via a text message whose receipt was uncertain. As a result, reporters who had arranged their schedules for the 12 p.m. interview were left confused. Ultimately, they had to wait about an hour before sitting down at the interview table.
Actors can be late or delays can happen. However, the PR agency’s inadequate response exacerbated the situation. They omitted any explanation about why the delay occurred, and despite postponing the interview originally set for noon to 1 p.m., they failed to promptly inform the press.
Kwon Hae-hyo explained that he was informed the interview time was 11 a.m. and left his home at 10 a.m. The mistake was that Phil & Plan conveyed the schedule incorrectly as 11 a.m. instead of 10 a.m.
At the interview, Kwon said, "There was a communication problem. I left home with plenty of time, and I am truly sorry," adding, "I apologize once again."

A delay is a delay. Someone waited, mistakes were made, and someone was inconvenienced. The unfortunate fact remains that veteran actor Kwon Hae-hyo was late.
