Gwangju Seo-gu Children's Ecological Learning Library to Host Reading Month Events in September
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Children's Ecological Learning Library in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) announced on the 21st that it will carry out various reading culture programs next month in celebration of 'Reading Month,' including online meetings with authors and support for non-face-to-face reading activity kits.
This event was prepared to create a cultural activity environment by expanding non-face-to-face services and providing safe face-to-face programs amid the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
The programs include support for non-face-to-face reading activity kits titled 'I Can Do It Alone,' a humanities special lecture online called 'Traveling Through Picture Books,' and an online meeting with author Jeon Eunju titled The Miracle of English Picture Books.
Additionally, local events include 'The Shop That Sells Jobs': a meeting with author Jo Kyunghee, and a picture book puppet show of 'The Raspberry King' by author Go Sujin.
Furthermore, the resource room plans to operate services such as doubling the number of books that can be borrowed, an event to help overdue borrowers, and sharing of back issues of magazines and supplements.
Participation applications can be made through the Seo-gu Integrated Library website, and tuition and material costs are free.

A library official said, “We hope this event will somewhat relieve the cultural life thirst of local residents caused by the reduction of various cultural events such as libraries, and we will continue to prepare programs to support safe reading life.”
