Jeonju District Court Chief Judge Tests Positive for COVID-19... First Case Among Sitting Judges
[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] The Jeonju District Court announced on the morning of the 21st that Chief Judge A (in his 40s) tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), according to the Jeonbuk provincial health authorities. It is reported that this is the first case of a sitting judge being infected with COVID-19.
Chief Judge A visited Seoul and Gyeonggi areas on the 15th and 16th, and stayed at his home in Daejeon on the temporary holiday of the 17th. He then returned to Jeonju on the 18th for work, and showed symptoms such as fever on the afternoon of the 19th, leading him to undergo a COVID-19 test on the afternoon of the 20th.
Chief Judge A is scheduled to be hospitalized and treated at Gunsan Medical Center. The quarantine authorities are conducting disinfection measures at the courthouse and are tracing the movement routes and contacts of visitors through mobile phone GPS, card usage records, and CCTV footage of visited locations to identify additional confirmed cases.
