Busan City Conducts Unannounced Night Inspections of Self-Quarantined Individuals
Strengthening On-Site Inspection Team Operations Amid COVID-19 Local Infection Resurgence
Increasing On-Site Inspections to Twice Weekly or More, Including Night Visits
All Confirmed Absentees to Be Prosecuted Without Exception
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City has decided to strengthen the operation of on-site inspection teams for self-quarantined individuals to block additional infections amid the resurgence of local COVID-19 infections.
To enhance the management of self-quarantined individuals, Busan City formed on-site inspection teams consisting of 16 teams and 48 members nationwide for the first time in April.
By August 18, a total of 3,425 people were visited and inspected, among whom 56 self-quarantined individuals were found to have violated quarantine and were reported to judicial authorities.
From August 10 to August 19, a short period of 9 days, 53 confirmed cases occurred in the region, and the number of self-quarantined individuals increased by more than 600, leading to a decision to further strengthen on-site inspections.
The on-site inspection teams increased the frequency of inspections from once a week to more than twice a week.
Previously conducted only during the daytime, surprise visits will now be carried out regardless of day or night to prevent nighttime outings by self-quarantined individuals amid the ongoing heatwave.
