[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus will start selling its augmented reality (AR) glasses, 'U+ Real Glass,' on the 21st. Unlike existing virtual reality (VR) devices that are large, heavy, and uncomfortable to wear, the AR glasses can be worn like regular glasses and weigh only 88g, making them 'ultra-lightweight.' This is expected to bring users closer to immersive experiences in the 5G era.
The retail price is 699,000 KRW. Customers can purchase it at half price with a 36-month installment plan when subscribing to a 5G plan. The glasses are available at LG Uplus stores nationwide and the official online mall, 'Uplus Shop.'
The U+ Real Glass is a wearable device that, when worn like glasses, displays desired content through its lenses. The lenses are transparent, allowing users to see ahead while using the service. Users can freely arrange and resize content screens in a 360-degree space around them. The screen size can be expanded to over 100 inches. This provides an overwhelming immersive experience when watching sports games, movies, concerts, and more. Additionally, when used with smartphone mirroring, users can easily enjoy various OTT services like Netflix and content from YouTube.

Customers who purchase the U+ Real Glass will also receive accessories designed for various usage environments. These include ▲ frames that can attach prescription lenses for customers who need vision correction ▲ lens covers that block the front view to provide an environment similar to VR headsets (useful for watching movies) ▲ various nose pads that fit different face shapes. The service is available only to U+ 5G subscribers. Currently, it is compatible with Samsung Electronics' 'Galaxy Note20.' The service will also be available on LG Electronics' flagship phone 'LG Velvet' in September. The lineup is planned to expand to include the V50 and V50S models.
