Eunpyeong-gu Village Bus Fever Detectors and Hand Sanitizers Pilot Operation
Real-time Passenger Fever Screening and Mask Wearing Guidance... Installation of Automatic Hand Sanitizer Dispensers to Prevent COVID-19 Cross-Infection
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is installing and pilot-operating the first-ever “contactless smart facial recognition fever measurement device” and “contactless automatic hand sanitizer dispenser” on one Eunpyeong06 village bus route (Suyang-gwan~Daeseong Middle and High School) starting from the 24th.
This measure is to prevent infections through public transportation as the number of new COVID-19 cases has recently surged mainly in the metropolitan area.
The “contactless smart fever measurement device” automatically checks the body temperature and mask-wearing status of village bus passengers, and sounds an alarm if abnormal temperature or no mask is detected.
Additionally, instead of the manual hand sanitizers installed on city and village buses, a “contactless automatic hand sanitizer dispenser” has been installed at the exit door. The existing hand sanitizers inside village buses required passengers to press the sanitizer with their hands, raising concerns about cross-infection. However, the automatic sanitizer dispenser uses an infrared sensor, allowing hand sanitization without direct contact.
Eunpyeong-gu plans to monitor the effectiveness and issues during the pilot operation period and consider expanding installation to other routes.
