Hampyeong-gun Supports Strawberry Flower Bud Differentiation Microscope Inspection Service
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 20th that it will operate a strawberry flower bud differentiation microscope inspection service, which can predict the optimal strawberry planting period, from the 24th of this month to the 15th of next month.
Flower bud differentiation occurs when all conditions necessary for strawberry growth, such as nutrients and seedling periods, are fully met, leading to the formation of flower buds.
If undifferentiated seedlings without flower bud differentiation are planted, strawberry harvest is known to be delayed by an average of about two months regardless of the planting time.
Strawberry flower bud differentiation can usually only be confirmed through microscopes with magnification of 60 times or more.
Since it cannot be confirmed with the naked eye, most growers often miss the optimal strawberry planting period.
The center decided to carry out this service again this year as it received great response last year, and plans to start full-scale activities from the 24th.
Those who wish to have an inspection can pick 3 to 5 seedlings with dark leaf color from the central part of the seedling bed and visit the Technology Extension Division of Hampyeong-gun Agricultural Technology Center.
