Gwangju Seo-gu and the Autonomy and Decentralization Committee Sign MOU for 'Visiting Autonomy School'

The Visiting Autonomy School is a pilot project proposed abruptly to Seo-gu by the Presidential Autonomy and Decentralization Committee in June, aiming to promote proactive participation of youth in the local community and to establish a foundation for revitalizing resident autonomy.
Seo-gu received high evaluations for being the first nationwide to hold village general meetings by school in the selection of pilot areas, leading the expansion of youth autonomy activities, and for being selected as the local government with the most excellent cases including the grand prize at the 18th National Resident Autonomy Expo. At the center of this, Geumho 1-dong and Pungam-dong were finally selected.
At the signing ceremony, Seo Daeseok, Mayor of Seo-gu, Kim Soon-eun, Chairperson of the Autonomy and Decentralization Committee, Park Tae-soon, Chairperson of the Geumho 1-dong Resident Autonomy Association, and Ahn Eun-seok, Chairperson of the Pungam-dong Resident Autonomy Association attended and agreed to actively cooperate in promoting the pilot project for discovering and spreading the Gwangju-type resident general meeting model.
According to the agreement, Seo-gu will support school and youth village general meetings through the operation of the ‘Visiting Autonomy School.’
In addition, Seo-gu plans to create an environment for holding village general meetings such as village communities and apartment communities, and to make every effort to promote and spread the resident general meeting model discovered through the pilot operation nationwide.
