Samsung Securities, Collecting Spare Change to Buy Samsung Electronics and Tesla
Samsung Securities' Small Change Stock Investment 'Tickle Piggy Bank Service' Gains Popularity
Event Also Offers 10% Extra Savings on Change When Purchasing Ice Drinks at CU Convenience Stores
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Samsung Securities' 'Tickle Piggy Bank Service,' created in collaboration with the spare change savings app Tickle earlier this year, has gained popularity as the amount of stock trading through the service has surpassed 13 billion KRW.
According to Samsung Securities on the 20th, the amount of stocks traded through the spare change savings service reached 13.7 billion KRW as of the end of last month. The invested stocks included domestic blue-chip Samsung Electronics and Tesla, which ranked first in U.S. stock trading volume in the first half of the year (based on Korea Securities Depository data).
The Tickle Piggy Bank Service automatically saves the spare change generated from card payments linked to Tickle into Samsung Securities' Comprehensive Asset Management Account (CMA), helping users invest in financial products. The service has been recognized as a means to support steady savings among the 20s and 30s generation. Additionally, the Samsung Securities CMA linked with the Tickle Piggy Bank Service offers a pre-tax annual yield of up to 2.95% under certain conditions, making it a popular financial investment method in the ultra-low interest rate era.
Samsung Securities has also partnered with BGF Retail's CU convenience stores to hold the 'Bujadellafe' event for two summer limited-edition drinks, including Watermelon Ade. The Bujadellafe event automatically enrolls customers who purchase popular drinks from CU's beverage brand 'Dellafe,' such as Watermelon Ade and Americano Sweet, using Tickle (the spare change savings app) linked to Samsung Securities' CMA.
Kwon Yongsoo, Head of Digital Division at Samsung Securities, said, "This collaboration with BGF Retail is a small-scale financial investment service that anyone can easily and enjoyably access without burden," adding, "We hope the spare change savings service leads to everyday financial investment."
