Eco-friendly Haenam Rice Export... Contribution to Overseas Market Development
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that Ttangkkeut Hwangto Eco-friendly Farming Cooperative Corporation (CEO Yoon Young-sik) received the Grand Prize in the Export Agriculture category at the 26th World Agricultural Technology Awards.
Hosted by Segye Ilbo and sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Rural Development Administration, the World Agricultural Technology Awards have been recognizing farmers and meritorious public officials who have made significant contributions to agricultural development since 1995.
It is known as the most prestigious award in the agricultural field, and the award ceremony was held on the 19th at the International Conference Room of the Seoul Bankers' Hall. At the ceremony, Lee Sera, a rural guidance officer at Haenam-gun Agricultural Technology Center, also received the Meritorious Public Official Award in the Guidance Institution category.
Since 2017, Ttangkkeut Hwangto Eco-friendly Farming Cooperative Corporation has established an export rice specialized cultivation complex in Haenam and has exported 92 tons to the United States under the brand "Hayang Gaba Rice" to date.
In particular, to pioneer the Chinese market, they obtained certification for a Chinese export rice processing factory and started their first export at the end of August under the brand "Gwanhaemi," planning to export a total of 30 tons this year.
Additionally, to secure international trust and expand exports, they acquired US organic certification (USDA), Chinese organic certification (CQC), Halal certification, and Chinese organic processing factory certification.
Recognized for their achievements in producing eco-friendly, high-quality functional rice through thorough quality control and pioneering overseas markets such as the US and China, they have achieved another great honor following the Jeonnam Eco-friendly Agriculture Award and the Grand Prize at the Export Agriculture Best Practice Competition.
CEO Yoon Young-sik expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank Haenam-gun, Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services, the Rural Development Administration, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and related parties who have greatly helped from establishing a high-quality functional rice production base through the pilot project for food crop export production complexes to entering the global market. We will take the lead in pioneering the global market and expanding export countries in the future."

Lee Sera, the rural guidance officer who also received the award, said, "Taking this award as an opportunity, I will strive to establish a production base for eco-friendly rice desired by people worldwide and provide technical guidance so that Haenam agricultural products can be exported not only to the US and China but also to many countries around the world."
