Recruitment in the Card Industry, Attracting Digital Talent
Shinhan Card Closes Rolling Recruitment on This Day
Digital Remains the Key Theme for Second Half Hiring
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] As the economy contracts due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and the job market freezes, the card industry is putting great effort into attracting digital talent. This is interpreted as a need for specialized personnel to leap forward as comprehensive payment service providers, as the payment market is rapidly digitizing and future growth engines such as the MyData business are emerging.
According to the industry on the 19th, Shinhan Card is closing its rolling recruitment under the name Digital Connector Recruiting this afternoon. Recruitment began on the 5th, and the hiring fields include five areas: web service development, mobile application (app) development, data science, UX planning, and GUI design. Shinhan Card has been operating rolling recruitment since last year to timely hire personnel needed for specialized jobs.
Separately from this rolling recruitment, Shinhan Card plans to conduct a new employee open recruitment in the fourth quarter. Specific recruitment directions, screening composition, and schedules are under review.
Earlier, Hyundai Card recruited summer internships limited to software engineers in the first half of the year in April. Looking at the recruitment positions, developers who develop web and mobile apps and data scientists who develop machine learning and deep learning-based algorithm models were also recruited in the digital field.
Last year, the keyword for new hires at card companies was also "digital." Samsung Card hired digital personnel in data analysis and IT positions, Shinhan Card selected talents in digital and big data platforms, new business new technology business, and ICT fields. KB Kookmin Card hired 30-40% of new employees as IT talents.
In experienced hires rather than new employees, the competition for digital talent is even fiercer. Shinhan, Hyundai, Woori, and Hana Card have been recruiting experienced digital sector applicants since June. They are continuously hiring not only big data experts related to artificial intelligence but also platform developers and operators, and digital marketers. In particular, they specify work experience at Naver and Kakao as a preferred qualification, indicating competition against fintech companies that have entered the payment industry.
