Changwon City Creates 3,402 Hope Jobs to Overcome COVID-19

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that it created 3,402 Hope Jobs and conducted two selection rounds from the 10th to the 27th of last month, selecting 3,170 people in the first round.
The Hope Jobs program aims to overcome the economic crisis caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and revitalize the local economy. The project period is from the 18th of this month to December 20th.
Participants work 4 to 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, in 10 fields including life quarantine support, public services, and administrative assistance.
The wage is calculated at 8,590 KRW per hour. Weekly and monthly allowances, as well as transportation and snack expenses (5,000 KRW), are provided, and enrollment in the four major insurances is mandatory.
Eligible participants are Changwon citizens aged 18 or older with work ability, prioritizing vulnerable employment groups, those unemployed due to COVID-19, self-employed individuals who have closed or suspended their businesses, and workers in special employment types, freelancers, and platform workers.
The city invested a budget of 21 billion KRW to revitalize the local economy, including 15 billion KRW from the city and 13.5 billion KRW in national funds, creating a total of 4,540 public jobs across 821 projects.
