Additional COVID-19 Cases Confirmed for Mother and Daughter Living in Gunsan the Previous Day
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Seven new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Jeonbuk in one day, prompting health authorities to be on high alert.
According to Jeonbuk health authorities on the 18th, following two positive cases related to Seoul Sarang Jeil Church confirmed in the morning of the previous day, two additional cases were confirmed around 9 p.m., classified as the 49th and 50th cases in the province.
Additionally, a man in his 30s who entered from the Philippines and was initially classified as the 49th case was corrected to the 51st case in the province.
Accordingly, a total of seven cases were confirmed in one day on the 17th: four related to Seoul Sarang Jeil Church, two contacts of the 44th case in Jeonbuk, and one overseas entrant (from the Philippines).
The 49th case (female in her 60s) and the 50th case (female in her 30s) are a mother and daughter residing in Gunsan, who have been attending worship at Seoul Sarang Jeil Church since the end of July.
These mother and daughter underwent specimen testing and were confirmed positive after the provincial health authorities issued an emergency administrative order mandating COVID-19 testing for visitors to churches in the metropolitan area.
The provincial health authorities stated on the 15th that they are investigating whether there was any possibility of participation in the Liberation Day rally.

As of now, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the province is 51, including 25 overseas entrants, 6 from the Daegu area, 1 related to Shincheonji, 2 from Itaewon clubs, 11 contacts of confirmed cases, 4 related to Sarang Jeil Church, and 2 others.
