Brecht's Life as a One-Person Play, Theater 'Patchwork Brecht - Capital 02'
Until the 16th at Daehangno Studio 76
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The theater troupe 'Theaterraum Philosophizing Body' is performing a one-man play titled 'Patchwork Brecht - Capital 02,' which reenacts the life of German playwright Bertolt Brecht, at Studio 76 in Daehangno until the 16th.
Actor Han Yoon-chun becomes Brecht and presents fragments of Brecht's personal, historical, and artistic life in the form and style of patchwork. Patchwork refers to a work or technique made by connecting large and small pieces of fabric.
Brecht, a German playwright, director, and poet, was born in 1898 in Augsburg, Germany. He experienced two world wars during his lifetime and died of a myocardial infarction on August 14, 1956. Brecht believed that theater could contribute to changing the world and sought social reform through theater. When Hitler came to power on January 30, 1933, Brecht immediately fled to Denmark the next day. Observing the violence of great power, Brecht hoped that humans would not give up living as humans and sought to distance himself from the desires of capital.
In 'Patchwork Brecht - Capital 02,' scenes from Brecht's works such as 'The Threepenny Opera,' 'The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny,' and 'Life of Galileo' are reflected and projected onto Brecht's life.
