Seongdong-gu Encourages Resident Voting for the '2021 Seoul Citizen Participatory Budget'
18 Resident-Proposed Projects Submitted in Seongdong-gu, Voting Available via PC and Mobile Until the 29th
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that the ‘2021 Seoul Citizen Participatory Budget Electronic Voting (M-Voting),’ where residents directly select projects proposed by residents, will be held until the 29th, encouraging residents to vote.
The 2021 Citizen Participatory Budget consists of public projects discovered and proposed by citizens, which go through eligibility review by city departments and selection by the public-private budget council for citizen voting projects, with the final projects selected based on the citizen voting results.
Out of the total 70 billion KRW citizen participatory budget, 40 billion KRW is finally selected through citizen voting. Among these, projects proposed by Seongdong-gu residents total 18 projects with a budget of 2.95 billion KRW.
The projects include maintenance of dangerous roadside trees, creation of green spaces on road traffic islands, free data support for senior centers, and other park and economic job projects, aiming to create a safe and pleasant smart urban environment.
Electronic voting (M-Voting) allows voting for a total of 10 projects per person via PC or mobile on ‘Seoul M-Voting,’ where voters must select 7 projects from the ‘Metropolitan Proposal Type’ and 3 projects from the ‘Metropolitan Cooperation Type.’
Projects with the highest citizen voting scores will be finally selected with 30 billion KRW for Metropolitan Proposal Type and 10 billion KRW for Metropolitan Cooperation Type. The selected projects will be reflected in the 2021 Seoul city budget and finalized after the city council’s review and approval.
