Gwangju Nam-gu, Active Win-Win Cooperation Projects with Public Institutions in Innovation City
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) is actively carrying out various win-win cooperation projects in partnership with public institutions in the Innovation City for the mutual development of Gwangju and Jeonnam.
According to Nam-gu on the 13th, the public institutions in the Innovation City collaborating on win-win cooperation projects with Nam-gu Office include the Rural Development Administration’s Technology Planning and Evaluation Institute, the Agricultural and Food Officials Training Institute, and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service.
Since April, Nam-gu has been holding working-level consultations with public institutions in the Innovation City to promote programs involving local residents and cultural sharing projects, and has been discovering projects to enhance regional cooperation and residents’ happiness index together with the three public institutions.
First, the Technology Planning and Evaluation Institute of the Rural Development Administration decided to promote a ‘Visiting SNS Technology Consulting’ project in cooperation with Nam-gu.
Starting from the 20th, technical consulting on farming sites and crop-specific difficulties will be provided to about 60 farmers working in Songam-dong and Daechon-dong, and if necessary, experts in each field will visit farms directly to conduct on-site consulting, which is also under discussion.
In addition, a Band (Korean social media platform) will be opened to allow beginner farmers who have returned to farming, leading farmers, and experts to exchange real-time opinions through SNS, and various audiovisual educational materials will be provided through this Band.
The Technology Planning and Evaluation Institute of the Rural Development Administration has been operating 40 Bands in various fields such as fruits, crops, and livestock since 2014, and it is reported that a total of 89,689 consultations have been provided to 56,200 farmers who joined the Bands.
Next month, the Agricultural and Food Officials Training Institute will conduct a ‘Local Children Open Lecture’ program for elementary school students in the district on topics such as rural areas and agriculture, local food, and healthy eating.
Originally, the program was planned to be held at several elementary schools in the district, but due to COVID-19 prevention measures, it will be conducted only at Jinnam Elementary School.
In addition, the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service has been conducting the ‘Human Book’ project since the 10th to provide cultural experience opportunities to children and adolescents in the district and offer various career exploration opportunities.
Until the 18th, they will visit three local children’s centers in the district, where students will meet one-on-one with experts in the cultural and artistic fields to discuss various topics such as the professional world and career exploration.
A Nam-gu official said, “We will actively promote cooperative projects that revitalize social contribution activities and promote balanced regional development by carrying out various cooperation projects with public institutions in the Innovation City, so that it will contribute to the win-win development of residents, local communities, and public institutions.”
