Kim Yeon-myeong, Senior Secretary for Social Affairs, Emphasizes Moon Jae-in Government Policy Achievements... Yoon Do-han, Senior Secretary for Public Communication, "Success of Moon Jae-in Government is the Development of Democracy in South Korea"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] "I will go to school tomorrow to report my reinstatement and prepare lectures for September." Kim Yeon-myeong, former professor at Chung-Ang University and Senior Secretary for Social Affairs at the Blue House, visited the Press Hall on the 12th to deliver his farewell remarks. Upon leaving the Blue House, Kim expressed his scholarly ambition by saying he would go to university to lecture.
Kim said, "It was a personal honor to share the policy philosophy with the respected President Moon Jae-in and implement policies, and it was also an honor as a scholar to take charge of policy affairs." He evaluated that creating and disseminating the theoretical framework of the Moon Jae-in administration's innovative inclusive state was the most meaningful achievement.
He explained the process of trying to solve major issues one by one amid difficulties, such as the kindergarten collective strike, measures to address fine dust, fairness in university admissions, and mask-related problems.
Kim said, "I am proud of the achievements in the globally positively evaluated COVID-19 response. We had a headache over the unexpected mask issue, but I am glad it was resolved well," adding, "The recent issue of expanding medical school quotas was not decided suddenly but was presented after nearly a year of data analysis and discussions with ministries during my tenure."
Senior Secretary Yoon delivered his farewell message with a modest tone. Yoon said, "(Kim said he would return to school,) I will return to being a neighborhood uncle," adding, "(If I meet with journalists,) I might be able to talk about things I couldn't before."
Yoon evaluated, "Democratic governments in the Republic of Korea have a short history. The Moon Jae-in administration is a model and exemplar that developed democracy."
