On the 12th, Son posted on her Facebook, "There are still judicial procedures such as the appeal trial to reveal the truth. I will do my best until the end to disclose the substantive truth," she said.
Earlier, the Seoul Southern District Court sentenced Son to 1 year and 6 months in prison. Additionally, former aide Jo, who was indicted alongside Son, was sentenced to 1 year in prison, and Jeong, who introduced the real estate to Son, was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation.
In the verdict, the court pointed out, "Although it is difficult to believe that the defendants acquired the real estate with a meticulous plan knowing about the massive budget support from the beginning, the member of the National Assembly and the aide, who must maintain strict morality and integrity in their duties, used confidential information obtained during work to acquire real estate through a borrowed name, anticipating an increase in market value."
