YG's 'Krunk' Appointed as Untact Tourism Ambassador of Mapo-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) has appointed ‘Krunk,’ an artist and character belonging to YG Entertainment, as the Mapo Untact Tourism Ambassador.
In the untact era triggered by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Mapo-gu has appointed Krunk as a promotional ambassador for Mapo tourism and will actively promote Mapo-gu to global tourists.
Krunk is an artist and character under YG Entertainment who debuted in 2014 through singer Lee Hi’s music video. Krunk is active as a singer, DJ, and actor, has participated in numerous overseas performances of Hallyu stars, gaining recognition both domestically and internationally, and currently has over 400,000 followers through various online activities.
Expanding activities as an artist in music, performances, advertisements, and broadcasting, and as a character in MD, games, and exhibitions, Krunk released the first single album 'I CAN’T BEAR' in September 2017.
Mapo-gu plans to promote and market untact smart Mapo tourism with Krunk until the end of this year.
They plan to produce three pieces of content and three teaser videos to upload on SNS and video platforms, including a Parasite parody video, content introducing Mapo-gu’s tourist resources, and a promotional video for the Hongdae Street Festival.
A district official stated, “We plan to hold an event where viewers who watch the untact smart tourism content produced by the district, choose places they want to visit, and upload them on their SNS with hashtags will receive Krunk goods.”
Meanwhile, Krunk will promote Mapo’s representative tourist resources through online channels such as SNS and YouTube targeting potential tourists from the Chinese-speaking and Southeast Asian regions, who are the largest overseas visitors to Mapo, and will hold events for tourists.

Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “We will support and cooperate so that Krunk can effectively promote the charm of Mapo worldwide in the post-COVID era,” adding, “We will explore various ways to help the struggling local tourism industry.”
