KEPCO KPS and Ansan City Promote Hydrogen Pilot City Project
"Exploring the Construction of Large-Scale Fuel Cell Power Plants"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Plant Service & Engineering (KPS), a company specializing in power plant maintenance, announced that it has signed a consignment contract with Ansan City to build a 'Hydrogen Pilot City' and is entering the hydrogen industry.
According to KPS on the 11th, the project was selected through a public contest by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, with an investment of 29 billion KRW by 2022.
The project aims to establish a full-cycle hydrogen ecosystem covering hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization.
KPS will carry out the 'Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Demonstration Project,' a specialized element of the hydrogen pilot city development.
Through this project, hydrogen will be produced and utilized without carbon emissions by utilizing tidal power generation in Sihwa Lake.
KPS expects to contribute to the expansion of the hydrogen economy by applying water electrolysis technology using renewable energy.
They will also conduct a 'Feasibility Study for the Construction of a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Power Plant' utilizing green hydrogen.
Additionally, KPS plans to explore ways to fully launch the hydrogen business, including promoting the construction of a large-scale fuel cell power plant in cooperation with Ansan City in the future.
