A Man in His 50s Drowns While Repairing a Casting Net in Jeongeup Stream
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] A man in his 50s who was casting a net in a river swollen by the monsoon rain drowned and died.
According to the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters and Jeongeup Police Station on the 7th, at around 6:32 a.m., Mr. A (57), who was casting a net at the edge of a river in Sanwoe-myeon, Jeongeup-si, Jeonbuk, fell into the water.
Mr. A was rescued about 50 minutes after the accident by 119 rescue workers who responded to a report from his companions and was taken to a nearby hospital but ultimately passed away.
It is known that Mr. A was repairing a net hanging at the riverbank that had been swept away when the accident occurred.
At the time of the accident, the river depth had risen to 3 to 4 meters due to rain that had fallen since the previous day.
