[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] On the 7th, both ruling and opposition parties expressed their welcome for the government's declaration of seven cities and counties severely affected by heavy rains as special disaster areas.
Democratic Party spokesperson Heo Yoon-jung stated in a commentary, "The decision was made just three days after the president's directive, which will help alleviate the suffering of residents in the affected areas even if only slightly," expressing her welcome.
Spokesperson Heo added, "Additional support for livelihood stabilization and emergency relief has become possible," and urged, "Authorities and local governments should concentrate all their capabilities to ensure swift execution so that the effects can be realized."

Spokesperson Kim emphasized, "Besides the areas declared today, there are many places with severe damage," and urged, "The government should also consider additional declarations to ensure no areas are neglected."
