Gwangju Dong-gu Distributes Basic First Aid Kits to Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 7th that it distributed home first aid kits to 1,407 vulnerable households, including elderly living alone, as part of the '2020 Dong-gu Healthy City Project.'
Since joining the Korea Healthy Cities Partnership (KHCP) and the WHO Western Pacific Healthy Cities Federation (AFHC) in 2007, Dong-gu has been promoting various projects to improve residents' health, such as health management vouchers (U-health system), creating urban health trails, and designating and operating healthy apartments.
This first aid kit consists of seven basic medicines commonly used at home (disinfectant, digestive medicine, antipyretic analgesics, wound ointment, disposable bandages) to provide basic welfare for maintaining minimum quality of life, due to concerns about health care for vulnerable groups caused by reduced outdoor activities and limited face-to-face health services amid the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
The delivery ceremony included education on the proper use of medicines and emergency treatment methods for daily health management, personal hygiene management methods and quarantine rules to prevent COVID-19 infection. Going forward, the first aid kits will be regularly inspected and consumables replaced and managed.
