Mokpo National University Selected for the 'Future Industry Research Talent Development Project'

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] The Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Mokpo National University (President Park Min-seo) announced on the 7th that it was finally selected for the '2020 Future Industry Research Talent Development Project' supported by Jeollanam-do and the Jeonnam Talent Development Foundation on the 6th.
The 'Future Industry Research Talent Development Project' is a project to foster research-oriented core talents who will lead the regional industrial ecosystem and to establish an advanced education operation system focused on practical theory education and hands-on training in each industrial field.
The detailed application fields include a total of three educational courses: new energy business, bio-industry, and AR·VR industry. This time, the Mokpo National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation was selected as a commissioned institution in the 'new energy business' field and will receive a total project fund of 200 million KRW until February next year.
With this project selection, the Mokpo National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation will recruit 20 trainees among third- and fourth-year university students in the province, graduate students, and workers in related industries, and operate an educational program for 'Microgrid System Design and Construction Workforce Training' from next month until February next year.
The education will take place throughout the Mokpo National University campus, and field visits and practical training at energy-related companies will also be conducted.
The main curriculum includes microgrid system design, microgrid construction and legal application, solar power generation and fuel cell power generation construction, ESS and smart electrical equipment construction, smart farm and smart factory creation, smart contract implementation, IoT and energy demand management system implementation. It aims to foster specialized personnel in smart electrical equipment that combines electrical energy and ICT technology, and plans to support employment and start-ups for certified personnel in the future.

Professor Park Gye-chun of the Department of Electrical and Control Engineering, the project leader, said, "Through this project, we will nurture practical research talents who will lead the future industry in Jeonnam to preemptively respond to new energy technologies and secure core technologies in the global market in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution." He added, "By actively responding to the Green New Deal recently included in the Korean New Deal with excellent results in the future, we will contribute to creating a sustainable growth engine for Jeollanam-do's clean blue economy."
