15 Pocheon Army Soldiers Fully Recovered from COVID-19... 6 Still Under Treatment in the Military
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]Fifteen confirmed COVID-19 cases from the 8th Division under the Army in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, and nearby units have fully recovered.
The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 6th, "Fifteen Army soldiers from the Pocheon unit have been declared fully recovered," adding, "Currently, there are a total of six confirmed cases undergoing treatment in the military."
Between the 14th and 21st of last month, a civilian career counseling instructor visited five subordinate units of the 8th Division in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province. It is presumed that the instructor transmitted COVID-19 to the units.
Nineteen soldiers were infected with COVID-19 in two units visited by the instructor and three nearby units. The three nearby units are presumed to have had contact with 'confirmed soldiers' at a church within the garrison.
Meanwhile, one officer working at the Military Security Support Command (Security Command, formerly the Defense Security Command) headquarters in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, tested positive for COVID-19; however, no additional confirmed cases have emerged from the Security Command so far. The Ministry of National Defense classified about 50 personnel working at the Security Command as close contacts and explained that all have tested negative so far through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing.

As of 10 a.m. on the day, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the military is 79 (73 recovered). According to health authorities, 311 individuals are in quarantine, and according to the military's own standards, 1,512 are under preventive quarantine.
