On the 6th, NS Home Shopping announced that it appointed consumer expert committee members and held a revamped product selection committee meeting at its Pangyo office in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on the 5th. NS Home Shopping is the first to include consumer group experts in its home shopping product selection committee.
The newly appointed consumer expert committee members are Yang Ji-an, Secretary General of the Korea Green Purchasing Network, and Kim Ae-jung, Education Team Leader of the Seongnam branch of the Consumer Citizens' Organization. They will work alongside eight existing customer committee members, forming a 10-member product selection committee.
Since its inception in 2001, the product selection committee has been held weekly and has reached its 808th session. It is a mandatory process for vendors to be listed on NS Home Shopping. Since July last year, internal committee members who previously participated have been completely excluded, and the committee has been operated focusing on customer members.
Customer committee members, who are NS Home Shopping’s valued customers, participate in product selection and play a role in directly conveying customer feedback to improve product satisfaction. Furthermore, through the newly joined consumer expert committee members, NS Home Shopping plans to gather not only its customers' opinions but also general consumer perspectives.
Additionally, the product presentation method has changed from being delivered by the existing MDs to being presented directly by representatives of partner companies. This change aims to exclude the influence of internal MD staff and provide transparent and fair opportunities to partners.
To strengthen the evaluation of product marketability, the evaluation criteria have also been improved. In addition to scoring each item such as product quality, functionality, price suitability, and customer convenience on a 10-point scale, evaluators’ purchase preferences are added as qualitative assessments to assign higher scores to products likely to lead to actual purchases.
NS Home Shopping plans to continuously maintain and strengthen the fairness and transparency of the product selection committee by reviewing the product selection process and committee operations through its Ethics Committee.
