On the 5th, Gyeongju City signed a hosting city agreement for the "Orange Life Champions Trophy Park In-bee Invitational" at City Hall, attended by Deputy Mayor Lee Young-seok, Brano & New CEO Jang Sang-jin, and pro golfer Park In-bee.
This tournament features 26 of the best domestic female professional golfers in the world. Domestic KLPGA players and overseas LPGA and JLPGA players will participate, playing 6 games of four-ball, 6 games of foursomes, and 12 games of one-on-one singles.
The "Orange Life Champions Trophy Park In-bee Invitational," first held in Busan in 2015, has been hosted in Gyeongju since 2017 at the request of pro golfer Park In-bee. Although it is a popular tournament attracting about 20,000 galleries annually, this year it will be held without spectators due to the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The tournament will be broadcast live on MBC, cable TV, and golf specialty channels. Along with the players’ performances, Gyeongju’s major cultural assets and historic sites will be introduced to widely promote its image as a city of history, culture, and sports, according to Gyeongju City’s plan.
Deputy Mayor Lee Young-seok said, "Since the tournament is held in the hottest August this year, we expect it to be an opportunity to ignite a passionate flame that brings new vitality to the citizens of Gyeongju and the nation weary from COVID-19."
