Guri City Expands School Uniform Support for New Students... Including Alternative Schools and Students from Other Regions
[Asia Economy (Guri) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Guri City in Gyeonggi Province will expand its school uniform support project from the second half of this year to include first-year freshmen entering regular high schools and alternative education institutions in other regions.
Earlier in March, Guri City provided school uniforms in kind to new middle and high school students in the city through their schools.
The city expects that this expansion of the support project will accelerate the realization of equitable educational welfare for students and help reduce the economic burden on parents.
The support target is first-year freshmen who have their resident registration in Guri City as of the date of admission (or transfer) and who enter other regional middle and high schools or alternative education institutions that require wearing school uniforms.
The school uniform support fund is up to 300,000 KRW and will be provided in cash. Applications can be made through the local administrative welfare center of the resident's district.

Mayor Ahn Seung-nam of Guri City emphasized, "This policy for equitable educational welfare for Guri students now enables seamless free school uniform support without blind spots. We will continue to strive to reduce the burden on parents facing difficulties due to COVID-19 and to realize an advanced educational city together with all citizens."
