"Let's Attract GTX-D"... Gangdong-gu to Hold Resident Briefing on the 5th
On the 5th at 5 PM, Seoul Convention High School to Host Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX)-D Line Attraction Briefing...Consensus Expected to Grow for GTX-D Line Connecting Western Metropolitan Area to Gangdong
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will hold a residents' briefing session to attract the Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX) Line D on the 5th at 5 p.m. in the gymnasium on the 2nd floor of Seoul Convention High School (964 Dongnam-ro, Gangdong-gu).
At the briefing, the district will inform about the background of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's consideration of establishing GTX-D and the expected route, and explain the necessity of securing a stop in Gangdong-gu, the project effects, the progress, and future plans.
Through this, the district aims to increase residents' understanding and consensus for attracting GTX-D and gather various opinions from residents to accelerate the project.
GTX is a project that connects the outskirts of the metropolitan area to major points in downtown Seoul within 30 minutes, aiming to resolve the severe traffic congestion in the metropolitan area and improve convenience for long-distance commuters.
Since the Metropolitan Transportation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced the review of a new western line in the 'Metropolitan Transportation Vision 2030' last October, Gangdong-gu has actively pursued the introduction of GTX-D.
If GTX-D passes through Gangdong-gu, travel to the Gangnam area will take about 10 minutes, and major metropolitan points will be reachable within 30 minutes. This will enhance metropolitan transportation convenience, drastically shorten commuting times, improve residents' quality of life, and, combined with the extension projects of subway lines 5, 8, and 9 and the opening of the Seoul-Sejong Expressway, will enable Gangdong-gu to emerge as the transportation hub of the eastern metropolitan area.
To attract GTX-D, the district has been promoting an easy and fast online signature campaign using QR codes through the district newsletter, website, and SNS since March, and offline signature campaigns at major locations such as apartment complexes, subway stations, and large supermarkets.
Since June, the district has started a research project on the introduction of GTX-D to review the optimal route, and plans to expand the signature campaign until the end of this month, then submit proposals to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Seoul City, putting all efforts into ensuring that the GTX-D route passing through Gangdong-gu is included in the 4th National Railway Network Construction Plan.
