GC Green Cross MS Receives Export Approval for COVID-19 Point-of-Care Diagnostic Kit
[Asia Economy, reporter Cho Hyunui] GC Green Cross MS announced on August 4 that it has received export approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its molecular diagnostic kit for point-of-care testing (POCT) of COVID-19.
This product uses loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technology, which amplifies genetic material at a constant temperature without repeated heating and cooling, to detect COVID-19 infection. The entire process, from sample collection to result analysis, can be completed within one hour.
Another feature is that the presence of the virus can be confirmed immediately by a color change in the reagent, eliminating the need for large-scale equipment unlike conventional molecular diagnostic kits.
With this export approval, GC Green Cross MS now offers a total of four types of COVID-19 diagnostic kits (two antibody diagnostic kits and two molecular diagnostic kits).
The company expects that strengthening its COVID-19 diagnostic kit lineup will enable it to efficiently respond to varying diagnostic kit demands in different countries.

An Eunok, CEO of GC Green Cross MS, said, "This product will primarily be exported to developing countries, where it is difficult to install expensive large-scale diagnostic equipment," adding, "We plan to build an integrated diagnostic platform for emerging viral infectious diseases by adding our own R&D products in the future."
