Guri Mayor An Seung-nam: "Government Should Support Religious Facilities Affected by COVID-19"
[Asia Economy (Guri) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] An Seung-nam, mayor of Guri City, has requested special support from the government for religious facilities struggling due to COVID-19.
Guri City announced on the 4th that Mayor An recently requested support from the government by gathering the difficulties faced by religious organizations raised at the 'Guri City Christian Meeting' held last month to establish a public-private cooperation system for COVID-19 response.
At the meeting, religious organizations including Christian, Buddhist, and Catholic groups expressed difficulties in maintaining and operating facilities such as paying rent due to the suspension of religious events and a decrease in the number of attendees caused by COVID-19.
In particular, they requested improvements, stating that religious facilities are classified as non-profit corporations or organizations and thus excluded from small business support and special guarantees by the Credit Guarantee Foundation.
