License Agreement for Original Musical 'Ludwig'... Performance Scheduled in Shanghai This December
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The original musical 'Ludwig: Beethoven The Piano (Ludwig)' will be performed locally in China this December through a Chinese performance license contract.
'Ludwig' is a work inspired by the true story between the 'musical genius' Beethoven and his nephew Karl. It dramatically depicts the conflict between Karl, who dreams of becoming a soldier, and Ludwig, who wants to raise him as a musician to succeed him. It also deeply portrays Beethoven's process of discovering a new meaning in life through the fictional character Marie. Marie is a challenging and confident figure who appears before Ludwig, who has fallen into despair after losing his hearing.
'Ludwig' was selected as a participant in the '2019 K-Musical Roadshow' jointly hosted by the Arts Management Support Center and Shanghai Culture Square. At the '2019 K-Musical Roadshow,' six Korean musicals, including Seoul Arts Troupe's 'Nabillera,' EMK International's 'Excalibur,' and Live's 'Marie Curie,' were selected as participants and held showcase stages in China along with the musical 'Ludwig.' Among them, 'Ludwig' was the first to sign a license contract with the Chinese production company Haesol Culture Communication Co., Ltd., and its official performance in Shanghai was confirmed for December.
On the 2nd, 'Ludwig' performed three numbers as a congratulatory stage at the 1st 'Chinese Musical Awards' hosted by the China Musical Industry Base.
