Court Official Who Sexually Abused His Biological Daughter for 12 Years
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A court official is under prosecution investigation for allegedly sexually abusing his young daughter for 12 years.
According to JTBC, court official Mr. A was accused by his wife, Mrs. B, last September of violating the Special Act on Sexual Violence and forcibly molesting a child under 13 years old.
Mrs. B filed a complaint with the police after their 17-year-old daughter, who was about to enter high school, confided the details of the abuse to her.
Mrs. B claimed, "Mr. A's sexual abuse continued for nearly 12 years, starting when our daughter was 5 years old."
She stated that she decided to disclose this information externally to protect their daughter.
Mrs. B expressed her feelings, saying, "I don't think saying sorry alone can ever express how I feel. I hope a proper investigation is conducted so that my daughter does not suffer further harm and can have time to recover..."
Mr. A told JTBC reporters, "It is not 100% true."
The court suspended Mr. A from his position.
The prosecution requested an arrest warrant for Mr. A, but the court dismissed it, stating, "He is a first-time offender, there is no risk of evidence tampering or flight, and careful consideration of the victim's testimony is necessary."
Mrs. B said that although the investigative agency issued a restraining order against Mr. A, he violated it multiple times by visiting, saying, "I hope you avoid suspension for the sake of the child. I was wrong." He allegedly tried to persuade her to withdraw the complaint using their child's future as an excuse.
